What is the ideal age to photograph a newborn?
During the first five days of life, the baby is in a phase of adjustment. Milk production usually begins around the third day, and if we bring the baby to a photo shoot during the first three days, the session may need to be interrupted many times for breastfeeding. This can cause anxiety and fatigue for both the baby and the mother.
From the 15th day onwards, the newborn's sleep decreases and the muscles in its hands and feet begin to develop, so they are no longer as flexible when photographed.
I prefer to work with them from 9 am onwards, because if they have trouble falling asleep, we have plenty of time to dedicate to them without rushing or stress. The secret is to be patient with little ones. A photo shoot can last two hours or a little longer; it all depends on your baby, who has different needs than adults. We give them extra time and love during the sessions. These sessions can't be rushed, and you'll get to try a variety of positions, each one made safe for your child. Let's not forget that safety is paramount. You're entrusting me with your baby, who may only be a few days old, and I'm responsible for them while I'm working with them.
The perfect time for a newborn photoshoot is between 6 and 12 days after birth. I personally ask parents to inform me as soon as possible after the baby is born, either through their husband, grandmother, or friends. This is important so I can rearrange my schedule.
My photoshoot with your baby begins long before the birth. Once you've scheduled the appointment with me, I'd like to ask you a few questions that will be helpful when you arrive at the studio with your little one. I always try to focus on the details to ensure your session is a success and creates a beautiful memory.
You'll see how wonderful it is to see your child in photos. To keep the first features of your girl/boy for a lifetime and to be able to see them anytime.
